A special school in Batley are seeking an experienced SEN Support Assistant on a temporary, part-time basis from January 2020.

Our client provides quality provision and learning experiences for students which is both appropriate and personalised in meeting a wide range of complex needs for students from 4 to 19 years old.

The school caters for students with highly Complex Needs including those with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Severe Learning Difficulties and those with Multi-Sensory Impairments.

Teachers and support staff work in partnership with parents and carers and the other professionals who support pupils.  EHC Plans detail the personalised specific educational and care arrangements in place to support individual student needs.

Your role will involve working across school, providing targeted support for specific pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis. You will be confident in managing pupil behaviour, promoting positive peer interaction and will be passionate about supporting young people with additional needs to reach their full potential: academically, socially and emotionally.

As a Support Assistant, in tandem with class teachers, you will liaise with parents and carers, through parent consultation meetings, telephone contact, home-school diaries, EHCP documentation and reports regarding the feedback of progress.

The school employ a positive behaviour approach which is supported by a comprehensive Positive Behaviour Policy and individual pupil plans, where required. We are seeking an individual who is able to underpin this practice, and welcome applications from those with Training in Positive Behaviour Strategies such as Team Teach.

Applications are welcomed from experienced SEN Support Assistants, and from those with personal experience supporting individuals with Special Educational Needs. We would also like to hear from those with experience working in a care environment, who may have training in Moving and Handling or Personal Care.
