SEN Learning Support Assistant

A gorgeous school set on a 30-acre rural estate is looking for a SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA). They will join a dedicated team who work with children with complex needs including Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome and SEMH needs.

Your main focus as a SEN LSA is to facilitate learning across a personalised curriculum aiming to build confidence and life skills as well encouraging the children to build positive relationships with peers. Due to the school’s location, the school puts a great emphasise on outside learning and uses its own facilities to foster independence and creativity. As a SEN LSA you will work with individual pupils to support their everyday learning. You must be confident to deal with challenging behaviour as many of the children have communication issues so are prone to aggressive outbursts. This is a rewarding role where progress is visible every day!

The Perfect Candidate……

  • Experience working with children, young people, or adults with additional needs
  • Great behaviour management skills
  • Compassion, empathy, and patience
  • Available to work full-time
  • Have a calm and nurturing manner
  • Be self-motivated, and use your initiative to support children in a variety of situations
  • Passion or interest in working with children with SEND needs
  • DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one)
  • TEAM TEACH, PRICE or NAPPI training (or be willing to be upskilled)

The school is looking for an individual who can bring positive changes to students and understanding the difficulties they may ne facing. Experience working in a similar setting would be advantageous however not essential. If you have personal or professional experience working with SEND individuals then please get in touch.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
