Exciting Opportunity: SEMH Teaching Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at a highly regarded secondary school in Wilmslow. With an Ofsted rating of 'Good', the school is committed to providing inclusive education and support to all students.
Role Overview:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing targeted support to students who require assistance with their social, emotional, and mental health well-being. Your responsibilities will include:

Individualized Support: Offering one-to-one support to SEMH students, providing guidance, encouragement, and practical assistance to help them overcome barriers to learning and develop coping strategies for managing their emotions and behaviors.

Implementing Support Plans: Collaborating with the SENCO and teaching staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans for SEMH students, ensuring interventions are tailored to their specific needs and reviewed regularly for effectiveness.

Assisting in the Classroom: Supporting classroom teachers in delivering lessons and adapting teaching materials to accommodate the diverse needs of SEMH students, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student feels valued and respected.

Behaviour Management: Implementing positive behavior management strategies and techniques to support SEMH students in regulating their emotions and behaviors, promoting self-control, self-esteem, and positive social interactions.

Building Relationships: Developing strong rapport with SEMH students, parents, and colleagues, maintaining open communication channels to ensure the holistic support needs of students are met both within and outside the classroom.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs, preferably in a school or educational setting.
- Understanding of social, emotional, and mental health difficulties and their impact on learning and behavior.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students facing SEMH challenges.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of SEMH students and the school environment.
