Exciting Opportunity: SEMH Teaching Assistant Needed in Wilmslow!

Position Overview: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with SEMH needs, enabling them to thrive academically and emotionally. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to manage their emotions, behavior, and social interactions.
  2. Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to develop and implement personalized support plans for students with SEMH needs.
  3. Supporting students in accessing the curriculum and participating in learning activities, adapting teaching methods as necessary to accommodate their individual needs.
  4. Acting as a mentor and role model for students, providing guidance, encouragement, and reassurance to promote their self-confidence and self-esteem.
  5. Implementing behavior management strategies and interventions to support positive behavior and emotional regulation among students with SEMH needs.
  6. Monitoring and recording student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers to support ongoing development.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs, either in a school setting or a similar environment, is highly desirable.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting young people with diverse emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and resilience in responding to the individual needs and challenges of students with SEMH needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
