SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-Time | Poole | Immediate Start

A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a resilient and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive specialist college in Poole.

This full-time position involves working with students aged 14 to 18 who have severe Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome challenges, build self-confidence and re-engage with learning in a positive and nurturing environment.

 

About the Role
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 4pm, with an immediate start. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students manage their emotions and behaviour, develop social skills, and achieve personal and academic progress.

Each day will bring something different as you guide students towards stability, growth and success through patience, empathy and consistent support.

What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a patient, adaptable and committed individual who genuinely wants to make a difference.

You must have a minimum of six months of childcare experience, ideally supporting children or young people with special educational needs or SEMH requirements.

Due to the school’s location, you will also need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own transport. Excellent communication skills, emotional resilience and a calm, positive attitude are key qualities for success in this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
