Job description

A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and understanding SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a caring and inclusive specialist school in Poole.

This full-time position is ideal for someone passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people aged 11 to 16 who are facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and attachment or detachment difficulties.

 

About the Role
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 3pm, with an immediate start available.

You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide personalised assistance and emotional guidance to students who require additional care and understanding.

The role involves helping pupils to regulate their emotions, build trust and resilience, and re-engage positively with learning in a supportive and structured environment.

What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone empathetic, patient, and adaptable, with a genuine interest in supporting young people who may find school life challenging.

You must have a minimum of six months of childcare experience, ideally working with children or young adults who have special educational needs or social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. Strong communication, a calm demeanour, and a positive attitude are essential to succeed in this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
