Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a caring and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive specialist school based in Poole.

This full-time role offers the rewarding chance to work with students aged 11 to 16 who may be experiencing Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, including anxiety, depression, and attachment or detachment disorders.

 

About the Role
This position is full-time, Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 3pm, with an immediate start available.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide emotional and educational support for students who require a nurturing and understanding approach.

Your role will include helping pupils to manage their emotions, re-engage with learning, and develop confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

Requirements
We are looking for a patient, empathetic, and proactive individual who is committed to helping young people reach their full potential.

To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A minimum of 6 months’ childcare experience, particularly supporting children with SEN or SEMH needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A calm and adaptable approach to challenging situations
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
