SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Blackburn
Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, term‑time (approx. 39 weeks per year)

Role Overview:
You’ll support students aged 8–16 with social, emotional, and mental health needs in an SEMH-focused provision in Blackburn. Your contribution will include assisting in the classroom, facilitating small-group interventions, and helping pupils develop resilience and positive behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Help pupils access the National Curriculum through tailored learning strategies.
• Support students in managing behaviour and emotional regulation using consistent de-escalation techniques.
• Assist in pupil supervision, recording achievements, and marking work.
• Promote development of social, communication, and independence skills.
• Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies.

Essential Requirements:
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
• Personal or professional experience supporting SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Strong behaviour management skills and patience.
• Resilience and adaptability in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
• A calm, consistent approach with clear boundaries.

Desirable:
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
