SEMH Teacher - Dorchester

Are you an experience SEMH Teacher or Tutor? We are currently looking for new Teachers and Tutors to support Alternative Provisions and LAC in the Dorset area.

Person Specification

• Knowledge and understanding of the statutory requirements of legislation concerning Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and SEN
• Understanding of the theory and practice of providing effectively for the individual needs of all children
• Knowledge and understanding of the SEN Code of Conduct and its practical application strategies for meeting the SEN of students in a mixed ability classroom
• Knowledge of behaviour management techniques for groups and individuals
• Knowledge of effective teaching and learning styles
• Knowledge and understanding of how to use comparative information about attainment
• Knowledge and understanding of the Statementing/EHCP process and the evidence needed
• Knowledge and understanding of the role of the external services that support the provision for SEN students within schools

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• To deliver targeted interventions; one to one or in small groups to students with SEMH
• To mentor pupils with behavioural, social and emotional needs (SEMH)
• To work with teacher in-charge of SEMH provisions to assess the needs of individual pupil with SEMH
• To work with teacher in-charge of SEMH provisions to differentiate and resource lessons that ensure that effective learning takes place for all pupils
• To work with the teacher in-charge of SEMH provisions to develop one page profiles, personalised learning plans and pastoral support plans
• To ensure that all pupils make progress during the lesson
• To support pupils in the acquisition and development of learning dispositions and positive character traits
• To implement that school behaviour policy and ensure that it is visible to the children
• To deliver targeted interventions; one to one or in small groups to pupils
