Flexible School Support Roles in Mainstream and Specialist Settings
Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants and Behaviour Support staff to provide flexible day-to-day support across a range of primary, secondary, SEN, and SEMH schools throughout Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas.
Schools regularly require reliable support staff to help maintain positive learning environments when permanent staff are absent or additional classroom support is needed. This means there are frequent opportunities for individuals who are adaptable, proactive, and confident working with young people.
These roles are particularly well suited to people looking for flexible work that can fit around other commitments, such as study, family responsibilities, or part-time work. It can also be an excellent route into education for those considering a longer-term career in teaching, youth support, or pastoral roles.
While previous experience in schools can be beneficial, it is not essential. Many successful candidates come from roles where they have developed strong communication, behaviour management, and relationship-building skills. This includes backgrounds such as care work, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, tutoring, or customer-facing roles.

- A calm, patient approach when supporting behaviour
- A willingness to work across different schools and settings
- A genuine interest in supporting children and young people
- DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
