SEMH Support Manager
Job description
Job Title: Support Manager
Salary: £28,598 to £31,022 per annum, term time only
Contract: Full time, permanent
Ready for a Move Beyond the Traditional Classroom?
Are you an experienced teacher, cover supervisor or pastoral professional looking for a role that focuses on behaviour, wellbeing and meaningful pupil development rather than full time classroom teaching?
This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership position within a specialist provision that supports children and young people who need a personalised and structured approach to education. Many of our pupils have social, emotional and mental health needs, communication differences, or have experienced challenges in mainstream settings.
This role offers the chance to make a real difference without the demands of planning, marking and whole class delivery.
The Role
As Support Manager, you will be central to the daily leadership of the provision. Working closely with senior leaders, you will coordinate behaviour support, strengthen staff practice and help maintain a calm, safe and purposeful environment.
You will draw on your experience of working with young people to shape effective strategies, support pupils through moments of challenge and ensure high expectations remain consistent across the setting. This is a hands on role combining direct pupil work with team leadership.
It is ideal for professionals who are passionate about inclusion, behaviour and pastoral development and who are ready to extend their influence beyond a single classroom.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead on behaviour, engagement and pupil wellbeing.
-
Support the development and implementation of personalised behaviour and support plans.
-
Maintain consistent routines and positive relationships.
-
Work collaboratively with families, partner schools and external professionals.
-
Contribute to progress monitoring and transition planning.
-
Mentor and guide support staff, modelling effective practice.
What We Are Looking For
-
Strong experience working with children or young people in education or pastoral roles.
-
Confidence supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
-
Experience in teaching, pastoral care, inclusion or behaviour support.
-
The ability to lead, influence and build positive relationships with colleagues.
-
A calm, resilient and reflective approach.
-
A clear commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
What We Offer
-
A leadership role focused on behaviour and pastoral impact rather than classroom teaching.
-
The opportunity to shape practice and support whole provision development.
-
A collaborative and supportive team environment.
-
Professional development and progression opportunities within the trust.
-
The chance to make a lasting difference to young people who need stability and understanding.
