Secondary Supply Teachers & Cover Supervisors
Job description
Secondary Supply Teachers & Cover Supervisors | Brighton
Supply works best when both sides are clear about what they need.
Here’s what I need:
Reliable Supply Teachers and Cover Supervisors who want flexible work across secondary schools in Brighton and the surrounding areas.
Here’s what you get:
The ability to tell me when you want to work without committing yourself to a permanent five-day timetable.
Pretty straightforward.
How Much Do You Need to Be Available?
There’s no minimum number of days I’m looking for.
If you want five days, great.
If you’re consistently available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, that’s useful too.
If you’re semi-retired and want the occasional day in a classroom, we can work with that.
What matters much more is communication.
Tell me when you’re available. If something changes, update me. When I know I can rely on the availability you’ve given me, I can confidently offer you work.
Some Bookings Come Through Very Early
This is an important part of day-to-day supply that isn’t always explained properly.
Schools can start contacting me from around **6:30am—and occasionally earlier—**when a member of staff calls in sick.
If you’ve told me you’re available, I may therefore be contacting you from around 6:30 onwards with a booking for that morning.
Other work is booked the day before or well in advance, so it isn’t always an early-morning scramble.
But being comfortable with same-day calls will significantly increase the amount of work available to you.
Supply Teachers
For teaching bookings, you’ll generally need QTS or an appropriate equivalent.
I’m interested in teachers across secondary subjects, whether you’re an experienced educator, an ECT, returning to teaching or simply looking for more flexibility than a permanent role provides.
Cover Supervisors
You do not need QTS to work as a Cover Supervisor.
You’ll supervise lessons using work already prepared by the school, manage classroom behaviour and keep pupils engaged.
Alongside experienced Cover Supervisors, relevant backgrounds can include:
- Sports coaching
- Youth work
- Tutoring
- Mentoring
- Graduates considering teaching
- Other roles involving responsibility for groups of young people
Repeat Bookings Matter
My aim isn’t to send you somewhere completely different every morning forever.
When you find schools you enjoy—and those schools enjoy having you—I want to get you back there.
That familiarity is better for you, better for the school and usually better for the pupils too.
Practical Details
- Secondary schools across Brighton & surrounding areas
- Day-to-day and pre-booked work
- Flexible availability
- Competitive rates appropriate to the role
- CPD and training available
A car isn’t essential, but having access to one will increase the number of opportunities I can offer you, particularly at short notice.
You’ll need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, alongside the usual safeguarding checks, full employment/education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible.
Interested?
If you want flexible secondary work and can be clear and dependable about your availability, apply and let’s get you into my Brighton supply pool.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
