Science Graduate
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
I am working exclusively with the Head teacher of a local secondary school to recruit a Science graduate to work as a cover supervisor. The school has recently been graded 'good' by OFSTED and would be looking for someone to start from after the summer holidays.
The successful cover supervisor should therefore be motivated and flexible to work across departments and have a real passion for working with young adults at secondary school age.
Key highlights of the Cover Supervisor role:
- Full time, long term opportunity to work within a secondary school environment
- Gain the ideal experience to set you up ready for a future in teaching and to support a PGCE application
- Network within a secondary school that is a key part of the local community and has links with other local secondary schools and feeder primary schools
- Lead lessons in the absence of a classroom teacher and get a real feel for what it is like being an educator
The role of a cover supervisor is to deliver already set work to students within a classroom setting. The successful cover supervisor won't be expected to plan and mark within this role but will work across departments as the school require. There is also the possible opportunity to tutor students in small groups or on a 1:1 basis, further gaining invaluable experience of educating students within the school environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate who is an aspirational teacher of the future as there is no better experience to get you ready for a role in education. The successful candidate should be available before the summer holidays to attend a meeting with the school where they can assess your suitability.
