Science Cover Supervisor – Secondary School in South Manchester

An ideal route into teaching for science graduates or aspiring educators

We’re working with a high-performing secondary school in South Manchester seeking a Science Cover Supervisor to support their Science department. This role will suit a confident graduate or aspiring teacher with a background in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, eager to gain school-based experience before progressing into teaching.

What the role involves:

  • Delivering pre-prepared Science lessons in the absence of the class teacher

  • Supporting practicals and classroom demonstrations under technician guidance

  • Encouraging student engagement and maintaining classroom discipline

  • Providing basic feedback on pupil progress and engagement

  • Working closely with the Science department and senior staff

Ideal for someone who:

  • Holds a Science-related degree (or strong A-Levels and experience in Science support)

  • Has prior experience working with secondary-aged pupils

  • Is confident leading a classroom and managing student behaviour

  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Is considering a future in education or teacher training

The school offers:

  • Daily pay between £95–£110 depending on experience

  • Full-time, term-time only role (Mon–Fri, 8:15–3:30)

  • Ongoing CPD and teaching pathway options

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
