Join Our Team as a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - September 2023

Are you a dedicated psychology graduate passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and mental health challenges? If you're eager to support and empower these students, we invite you to join our secondary school team as a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant.

About Us:

Located in the vibrant community of Parrs Wood, our secondary school is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. We are searching for a compassionate Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to help students with SEN and mental health issues thrive both academically and emotionally.

Position Overview:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students facing SEN and mental health challenges. Working closely with our experienced teaching staff, you will contribute to creating a supportive atmosphere where every student can excel.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN and mental health needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and mental health support strategies.
  • Foster a caring and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assist in adapting teaching materials to accommodate diverse learning needs.
  • Offer emotional and social support to help students build self-esteem and resilience.
  • Monitor and document student progress, sharing insights with teachers and parents.
  • Contribute to the preparation of learning materials and resources.
  • Create a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with SEN and mental health challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and a nurturing approach.
  • Strong organizational abilities and a collaborative mindset.
  • Experience working with children, young people, or individuals with SEN/mental health issues is advantageous but not mandatory.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
