Primary SEN Teachers needed - Guildford

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Primary Teacher to work in a Special Needs School in Guildford. The school has successfully built a strong team of creative, innovative and dedicated staff, who have successfully helped students, aged 4-11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (Also known as EBD), ASD and Speech and language needs.

Whilst experience working with SEMH and Autism is preferred, the school values character and resilience highly, as it is key they demonstrate the right attitude to SEN and uphold schools aims and values. The main aim of the school is to encourage independent learning and life skills and you will be expected to devise creative lessons and activities to enforce these aims.

As a Primary Special Needs Teacher you will take on the following responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative lessons and activities for a small class of SEMH needs
  • Be willing to undertake MAPA training provided by the school
  • Educate yourself on each individual students Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Build a strong rapport with your pupil
  • Understand these pupils have gone through some traumatic upbringings and you will be supporting them to help maintain emotions which can take a few months or a few years so resilience and persistence is key.
  • Work closely with the school staff team, helping to reinforce schools values
  • Keep yourself up to date with changes in education that may affect your pupils

You will need the following, to be considered to this role:

  • Have a QTS or relevant teaching qualification
  • Be a compassionate educator, with strong behaviour management skills
  • Preferable experience working with SEN, particularly ASD and complex needs
  • A DBS on the update service, or be prepared to apply for a new one
