Your new school

This school is a 11 - 19 mixed comprehensive school. In the schools last ESTYN inspection it was graded as a 'good school'. They have over 900 pupils from across Newport. The school has a high proportion on pupils (over 70%) with English as an additional language. Due to the sickness absence of permanent member of their PE faculty the school are recruiting for a PE teacher.

Your new role

You will work as a part of a four strong PE department and will be responsible for teaching a timetable of KS3, KS4 and KS5 classes off mixed ability, five days per week. In addition to teaching PE you may also occasionally be asked to cover other subject areas. Your role will include full teaching responsibilities including planning and preparation of lessons, marking, assessment, attending parents’ evenings and pastoral responsibilities for a form class.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be either an qualified PE teacher or an Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) registered with the Education Workforce Council. You will have previous experience of delivering WJEC PE. You will have a passion for learning and have a strong track record of helping pupils to achieve results. You will also possess strong behaviour and classroom management skills. You share a commitment to safeguarding and hold a DBS check.

What you'll get in return

You will be offered a daily pay rate of between £80 - £100 per day and have the opportunity to teach your own timetable and deliver improvement and results for your own classes.
