Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Firswood to recruit a dedicated Year 1 Teaching Assistant for the upcoming academic year.

This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support pupils during a crucial stage of their educational journey, helping them build confidence, develop key skills, and foster a love of learning. You will work closely with the class teacher to create an engaging and positive learning environment where every child can thrive.

The Role

As a Year 1 Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils both academically and socially throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Year 1 pupils in class, in small groups, and on a 1:1 basis
  • Assisting with the delivery of phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy activities
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive learning habits
  • Supporting children with additional needs, including SEND and EAL learners
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in classroom activities
  • Assisting with classroom preparation and maintaining a stimulating learning environment
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

About You

This role would suit someone who is enthusiastic about working with young children and passionate about helping them achieve their potential.

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Experienced in supporting children within a primary school setting
  • Confident working with Key Stage 1 pupils, preferably Year 1
  • Patient, nurturing, and adaptable in their approach
  • Positive, reliable, and proactive
  • Strong communicators who work well as part of a team
  • Teaching Assistant qualified (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
