A school in Manchester is looking for online tutors to offer suport whilst school closures take place due to COVID-19. The school requires tutors across the core subjects.
Registering with Teaching Personnel allows the tutor:
- To gain experience teaching students across differing ages and abilities.
- Access to a unique online platform.
It is essential that the tutor will be able to confidently:
- Deliver lessons using an online platform, whilst being able to competently keep students engaged.
- Implement strategies specifically designed to ensure that students are able to maximise their ability, within an unconventional setting.
- Be able to provide educational material and resources that are relevant in ensuring that students are able to efficiently adapt to a new form of learning process.
Given current circumstances, it is imperative that the required tutor will be able to manage expectations with regards to completing work. It is also of high importance that the tutor can set tasks to be completed away from the online platform, to both reinforce learning as well as encourage independent learning.
Further key aspects that the tutor will have to consider are as follows:
- Managing workloads, and being able to effectively slow the learning process down to ensure that the student has been able to take all information on board.
- Working closely with the individual (s) to ensure that information has been processed, whilst also being able to offer alternatives, particularly to those students.
- Considering the difficulties that students may face when learning online and being able to provide quick solutions to any problems that could be faced.
- Communicating with the school to relay any issues that may arise within the online learning process, as well as offering feedback to teaching staff/parents as well as the students whenever necessary.
The requirements for the tutor are as follows:
- A degree (preferably related to the subjects being taught)
- Teachers holding QTS are encouraged to apply, especially if they are not able to work due to school closures.
- Prior experience within 1:1 tutoring, or indeed teaching using an online platform are essentially.
The tutor will need:
- Access to a laptop, with a microphone/video setting.
- The required attributes to be a successful online tutor - e.g patience, resillience, as well as being able to slow down the learning process for those who need it,
