Here at Teaching Personnel I am currently looking to recruit a specialist Behaviour Support Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 9 pupil at a Secondary school in the WF8 area of Pontefract. This role is to start as soon as possible on a long-term basis until the end of the academic year with the opportunity for a permanent position to arise.

Your full responsibility will be to support the pupil on a one to one basis throughout their lessons across a range of subjects. You will be supporting them with general school/classroom work including assisting them from lesson to lesson. The pupil in question does have challenging behaviour but the school are looking for someone to be a role model and manage this behaviour effectively, whether this is using the behaviour policy of the school or from a holistic supportive route.

The school are looking for the following:

  • Someone with experience of working 1:1 with challenging pupils
  • The ability to sympathise and support the pupil effectively
  • An individual who can be a role model to the pupil
  • Someone who has a good understanding of the secondary curriculum
  • Someone who is not afraid to get stuck in and can hit the ground running

The school in question has a strong supportive ethos throughout and are on the way to becoming 'Good' by OFSTED in the near future. With a lot of students throughout the school needing extra support, the SENCO will work with you extensively to create the best possible learning environment for the student to make sure attainment is at the highest and the pupil is supported both educationally and holistically.

If you would like to know anymore information on the above post, make sure you apply as soon as possible. This role is to start as soon as possible and could lead to future permanent work.
