About the Role

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work within a supportive school in Tonbridge. This full-time role involves supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them engage with learning and develop positive behaviours within the classroom environment.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people who may face barriers to education and require additional emotional and behavioural support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs

  • Support students in managing behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities

  • Help create a structured, supportive and inclusive learning environment

  • Encourage positive social interaction and engagement with learning

  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to support student progress

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working with SEMH, behavioural needs, or vulnerable young people

  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach

  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils

  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting student wellbeing

Experience in education, youth work, care, support work, sports coaching or similar roles is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
