Multiple SEN Teachers required for large special school - Stoke

I am currently recruiting for a specialist SEN School located in the heart of Stoke City. This school provides flexible day and residential placements for students with complex communication and social difficulties typically associated with Asperger's syndrome and Autism. Many will have additional sensory issues and high levels of anxiety that affect their ability to cope in mainstream settings and create barriers to learning.

This school are currently looking for a number of specialist Teachers who are able to teach young people with complex educational needs and are able to differentiate for young people with sensory needs. Ideally, the school are looking for two Secondary Teachers (no subject specialism required) and one Primary Teacher. As the school caters for young people with complex needs, majority of pupils are working at Plevels and low National Curriculum levels.

This is a relatively new school that has joined a successful multi-academy trust and is looking to expand their staffing team to accomodate for more pupils.

This position is to start from February half term on a permanent basis. The school would like to meet and interview members of staff ideally over the February half term so please apply ASAP.

The teacher would ideally;

  • Have experience working in a specialist setting with young people with additional needs
  • Have knowledge and understanding of profound and multiple learning needs
  • Have experience teaching to Plevels and low national curriculum levels
  • Have a strong passion for working with young people with special educational needs
  • Have experience using communication aids, e.g. Makaton, Ipads, PECs

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
