Learning Support Assistant - Mental Health Support Trainee
Teaching Personnel has a long standing partnership with a specialist Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) provision located in Salford. The provision is committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for students who are unable to attend mainstream education, where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students many with anxiety, depression, and other SEMH issues including those with suicidal tendencies,. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide personalised care and guidance, ensuring the well-being and academic progress of each student.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students
- Foster a safe and supportive learning environment conducive to the social, emotional, and academic development of students.
- Implement individualised support plans in collaboration with teachers, therapists, and other professionals, tailored to meet the specific needs of each student.
- Assist students in developing coping strategies and resilience skills to manage their emotions and behaviors effectively.
- Monitor and record student progress, behaviors, and emotional well-being, maintaining accurate and confidential records.
- Actively engage with students to build positive relationships, trust, and rapport, promoting a sense of belonging and self-worth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to implement behavioral interventions and de-escalation techniques when necessary, ensuring the safety of all students and staff.
- Support our inclusion group and contribute to the academic progress of students working towards GCSE level qualifications.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
- Empathy, patience, and resilience in supporting students through difficult situations and behaviors.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the holistic care and support of students.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the SEMH provision.
- Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, social work, or a related field are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
