Sickness Cover- KS2 Class in Blackburn Primary School
Potential long term cover role in a KS2 class
30 children working pretty much in line with age related expectations
Large primary school with GOOD local reputation and Ofsted inspection grading
Are you a supply teacher who is keen to secure a medium/longer term stretch of work in a good Blackburn school? Are you experienced in KS2 and available to start working from Thursday 21st March who is able to commit until May half term?
A Head teacher contacted me this morning to say they are looking for a strong teacher to commit to their school and work in a KS2 class from as soon as possible until May half term. The school does have multiple classes per year group and there will be support with getting up to speed with the planning and the children's needs. The Head teacher is always keen to give temporary staff a warm welcome and ensure they are well supported during their time in school. The school have really good support systems in place for temporary staff using 'timetables' and 'supply marking policies' to help supply staff have more successful days. Behaviour in school is considered to be GOOD by Ofsted and the Head teacher has passed across information that you will be supported by support assistants and members of the SLT.
This is a five day a week role which will continue for the entirety of the permanent teacher's sickness. The Head is keen to secure someone straight away up until May half term in order to gain some sort of continuity. This role could continue until the end of the academic year. The school have not mentioned anything with regards to completing NQT inductions, but this is something which can be discussed before accepting the role.
The catchment for the school is pretty mixed, with a group of children arriving from affluent backgrounds, a group from a lower social background and a minority from a local travelling community. This mixture of children makes for a really diverse school community which adds to the children's learning experience but does pose potential behavioural challenges. You must be able to differentiate and keep on top of challenging and disruptive behaviour. You must also be capable of differentiating the curriculum to meet the needs of children with special educational needs and also individual children working below age related levels.
