Teaching Personnel are working alongside a Secondary School in Bury who is currently looking to recruit a Literacy Support Assistant for the new academic year. Due to a proposed increase in students this year, our partner school is in need of extra staff to ensure all students are supported, especially those at lower levels of learning.

  • Full-time Literacy Support Assistant role available from January 2020 until the end of the academic year, with the hopes of this continuing.
  • Earn up to GBP300 per week, dependent on experience.
  • Opportunity to work with children who have learning difficulties and can show signs of challenging behaviour.
  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis who require extra literacy focus in order to raise their attainment.
  • Work within the Literacy department supporting a number of students who require additional support with English.

Working as part of the Literacy Support department in our client school, successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Support specific pupils in small groups and occasionally on a 1:1 basis who require extra support with English.
  • Ensure the class teacher has the correct support they require inside and outside the classroom.
  • Expected to incorporate inventions to aid the student’s learning and behaviour with the hopes of raising their progress and attainment
  • Supporting students aged 11-16 across Key Stage 3 and GCSE.

You must have experience of working with individuals who have learning difficulties or require extra support as these skills will be highly transferrable. Our client school has also mentioned they would prefer candidates to have experience working with challenging behaviour and some students can show occasional signs of disruptive behaviour as a result of their learning difficulties.

Our client school is based in Bury and can be accessed via the M61 and A58 from surrounding areas for those who have their own transportation such as Bolton and Rochdale. For non-drivers, there are several forms of public transport with links to several areas including  Salford, Bolton and central Manchester.
