A secondary school in the Warrington area near to Wigan, Widnes and St Helens, is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join their SEN department. The successfully appointed Learning Support Assistant would ideally start with the school in November/December as students settle into the first term of this academic year. The school are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who is experienced in supporting students as a Teaching Assistant, Learner Mentor or perhaps providing tuition previously. Any experience of supporting students with a variety of special educational needs, is highly desirable for this role.

The school require a Learning Support Assistant that is confident in working with students of all ages between 11 and 16 but primarily working with year 7 students who have just start secondary school. There will be the chance to support these year 7 students working with them in smaller groups within the classroom and also on a 1 to 1 basis outside of the usual class constraints.

Important highlights of this Learning Support Assistant role:

  • Opportunity to assist within the classroom, working under the direction of the class teacher
  • A chance to work across all subject and with a variety of students, including those with SEN, gifted and talented and those that require additional support with certain subject areas
  • Support year 7 students who are behind their peers and allow them to catch up in the main core subject areas
  • Work with a group of students regularly for the remainder of the academic year from November/December ideally with the view to continuing for the whole academic year
  • Earn up to GBP1200 per month dependent upon experience and prior skillset

The successful candidate will ideally have relevant experience working as a Teaching Assistant in the past or something similar where there are transferable skills. This could be working with students that require behavioural assistance or providing intervention as all experience will be beneficial for this role. The school are looking for an individual who is looking for a learning support assistant role and is keen on pursuing a career in the education sector.

The school is situated in the Warrington area which is very easily accessible from the surrounding areas of Wigan, Widnes, St Helens and Trafford in Greater Manchester. This school would also suit someone who is located in the Ashton-in –Makerfield or Runcorn area. The school is easily accessible for those learning support assistants that drive, given that the M6 and M62 motorways are situated closeby this school.

  • Work within the SEN department, assisting students that require further support primarily focussed on students in year 7
  • Perfect role for an established TA looking for their next support role at a highly regarded secondary school
  • Also suitable for an individual who may not have had school based experience but perhaps youth work experience or worked supporting young adults aged 11 – 16
