Learning Support Assistant – Full-Time Position (Immediate or January Start)

Location: Poole area
Hours: 8.30am to 3.30pm (some weekdays may vary)
Age Group: 3–18

Are you passionate about supporting young learners and helping them thrive? We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive educational setting.

This is a full-time role with an immediate or January start, working with students aged 3–18 who have a range of additional needs, including physical disabilities (PD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and severe learning difficulties (SLD).

Your role will be to provide tailored assistance that promotes engagement, confidence, and independence in learning.

You will work closely with teachers and other staff to implement strategies that help students overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

Your Responsibilities

As a Learning Support Assistant, your role will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with PD, PMLD, and SLD
  • Assisting teachers in creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Implementing strategies to encourage engagement and participation in lessons
  • Supporting students in developing resilience, confidence, and independence
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and parents to ensure consistent support

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum 6 months of childcare experience, ideally supporting children with SEN needs
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to learning support
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence – due to the rural location, driving is essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
