Job description

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and supportive Classroom Assistant to join a welcoming and well-resourced primary SEN campus in Poole.

This school is known for its inspiring team culture, positive learning environment, and its commitment to seeing every child succeed.

This is a full time, immediate start vacancy, working with primary-aged pupils (5 to 12 years old) with Mild Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Autism (ASD).
Working hours are 8.45am to 3.30pm.


What You Will Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils with ASD and MLD to access classroom activities

  • Providing one to one and small group support

  • Helping pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social skills

  • Assisting with sensory learning and play-based activities

  • Working alongside teachers and other support staff as part of a friendly team


What We’re Looking For

To be considered, you must have:

  • A minimum of 6 months childcare experience, ideally supporting children with SEN needs

  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships

  • Willingness to learn and work collaboratively

  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential

Experience from nurseries, schools, youth work, residential care, or similar environments is welcomed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
