SEMH Teaching Assistant
Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a caring and inclusive specialist school in Poole.
This full-time position offers the chance to support children and young people aged 2 to 19 with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), communication difficulties, and sensory disabilities.
About the Role and the School
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 5pm, with an immediate start available.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs across both primary and secondary settings.
Working alongside skilled teachers and therapists, you will help create a calm and supportive learning environment that promotes emotional well-being, positive relationships, and personal development.

Requirements
We are looking for a patient, empathetic, and motivated individual with a passion for supporting young people who face additional challenges. To be successful in this role, you must have:
• A minimum of 6 months’ childcare experience
• Experience working with SEN or SEMH students, particularly those with ASD or sensory needs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A positive, adaptable, and caring approach to learning support

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
