Unqualified 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant

Locations: Bristol • Bath • Gloucestershire
Full-Time Position Available
Daily Rate: £89 – £100

Are you a compassionate, motivated individual eager to make a real difference in the lives of young learners? Teaching Personnel is on the lookout for passionate support assistants to work one-to-one with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN).

SEN may include a range of needs such as mental health conditions, physical disabilities, communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges. This role requires empathy, understanding, and a patient, nurturing approach. You’ll be working with students aged 5 to 16, playing a pivotal role in their personal and academic development.


Position Details

  • Start Date: September 2025

  • Contract: Full academic year

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, term-time only

  • Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (subject to school-specific variations)

  • Locations: Opportunities across Bristol, Bath, and Gloucestershire

  • Potential to transition into a permanent school contract for the right candidate


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide 1:1 tailored support to a student with SEN

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering the school’s bespoke curriculum

  • Help implement Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs)

  • Build a trusting relationship with your student to foster a sense of safety and belonging

  • Support learning activities and classroom tasks, offering guidance as needed


The Ideal Candidate

  • A genuine passion for education and supporting others

  • Previous experience in an educational setting is desirable—but not essential

  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills

  • Able to adapt to the individual needs of different students

  • Reliable, caring, and motivated to make a difference

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
