Learning Support Assistant– Behaviour Support 

  • Full time, Monday - Friday 
  • Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm (half hour break)
  • Pay: GBP10.20- GBP11 per hour
  • Mainstream Primary School
  • Cardiff

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a Primary School in Cardiff, who are searching for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work 1-1 with a pupil with challenging behaviour. The particular pupil has behaviour issues but can respond well in the mainstream classroom when provided with the correct support.  

The ideal Learning Support Assistant will need to have experience working with children with challenging behaviour or special educational needs (SEN) and be confident with their behaviour management skills. To be considered for this role it is essential that you have previous experience in a similar position.

You will be working with the pupil during class times and also 1-1 to run interventions and booster sessions. 

A lot of your working day will be spent ensuring the pupil is as focused as possible at all times, and supporting their emotional well-being. 

This role is set to start ASAP until the end of the academic year and to continue in September for the right candidate.

The tasks which a Learning Support Assistant carries out can include:

  • Preparing materials, equipment, and lessons for the class teacher
  • Assessing the individual learning needs of pupil
  • Evaluating and reporting pupils’ progress to teachers, carers, healthcare professionals and anybody else involved with the pupil’s progress.
  • Positively managing challenging behaviour and dealing with difficult situations
  • Liaising with the staff, parents, carers, and other professionals
  • Supervising activities such as trips locally and lunch duties.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
