Part-time KS2 Teaching Assistant

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Key Stage 2 teaching assistant seeking part-time work.

The Head Teacher of an Ofsted graded ‘Good’ primary school in the PR7 area of Chorley would like to appoint an additional member of staff to provide general classroom support in Year 4 and 5 during the afternoon sessions.

The working hours are 13:00 - 15:30, Monday to Friday – ideal for someone looking to return to work on a part-time basis.

The role is to start 8th March 2021 and is planned to continue until the end of the academic year with the potential of a school contract.

For the first hour of your day, you will be expected to join the pupils outside during their lunch time break and work alongside the other members of staff to ensure a safe and happy environment. This will include setting up equipment for the pupils to engage with and leading small group activities.

From 13:00 onwards, you will be based in the Year 4 or Year 5 class. During this time, you will be expected to provide support and assistance across the class, as planned by the Class Teacher; lead small group activities; listen to pupils read and keep records of pupils’ reading; and deliver small group interventions based upon the pupils’ learning in English and Maths.

The Head Teacher has highlighted that the successful candidate will have previous experience in Key Stage 2 and will be confident in their ability to plan and lead small group sessions with the pupils.

The school is a single-form entry primary school located in the Chorley area. The most recent Ofsted report identifies the school as ‘Good’ in all areas, with ‘Outstanding’ personal development, behaviour and welfare.

This could also be an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified teacher looking to develop their school-based experience and confidence as a teacher. The Head Teacher is highly supportive and would be keen to support someone looking to develop in their career. With this, there are likely to be opportunities for the successful candidate to cover lessons during staff absences and training days. The daily pay would therefore reflect this. **HLTA Status or QTS required.
