KS2 Classroom Teacher

  • Temporary, lower Key Stage 2 Classroom Teacher role
  • Experience working alongside children in Key Stage 2 required

Are you on the lookout for a new and exciting challenge for this next academic year?

An Ofsted graded 'GOOD' primary school are looking to appoint a passionate and proactive Class Teacher to cover a staff absence in a lower KS2 class. The role is to start following the October half-term holidays and is planned to continue until the end of December; however there is potential of a school contract in 2020 following a successful period of probation.

The primary school in which this role is situated is located in the inner-city of Preston. The proportion of disadvantaged pupils eligible for the pupil premium is above the national average, as is the proportion of pupils with special educational needs. The school pride themselves on the nurture they provide and the way in which each child is made to feel valued. Their exciting, and vibrant curriculum is designed to stimulate life-long learning and enables the children to grow into proud and resilient young people. The Head Teacher, as well as the school's committed team of staff, are welcoming, approachable and are eager to support new members of staff to ensure they feel happy in the work that they do.

The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced and highly supportive Teaching Assistant, who has a good knowledge of the children in the class and is keen to make the new staff member feel welcome and happy in their new surroundings. Behaviour of the children is good. The pupils have a good understanding of the behaviour management policy, and of teachers' expectations for behaviour. They respond quickly to instructions and engage in tasks well.

Experience in Key Stage 2, and knowledge of the lower KS2 curriculum and the expected standards for the year groups are essential to being successful in this role. The school utilise the Key Learning statements provided by Lancashire County Council across the core curriculum; however they have constructed their own inspiring and integrated curriculum that allows learning to be responsive to the interests of the children and makes links to other areas of the curriculum.
