Start Date: ASAP/ September 2026
Location: Walsall
Pay rate: £100-£120 per day (dependent on experience)
About the role:
We are currently working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Walsall who are seeking a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and looking to take the next step in their support role within a school setting.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, delivering planned lessons in the absence of teachers, and providing targeted support to individuals and small groups to help raise attainment and engagement.
This role would suit a proactive and enthusiastic HLTA who is confident managing a classroom environment and has experience working with a range of abilities and needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of teaching staff
- Support learning across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 where applicable)
- Work with individuals and small groups to raise attainment
- Assist with planning, preparation and classroom resources
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Support pupils with additional needs where required
- Work closely with teaching staff to track progress and development
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a school setting
- Strong classroom presence and confident behaviour management skills
- Experience working with secondary-aged pupils
- Ability to deliver pre-planned lessons effectively
- Flexible, reliable and proactive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passionate about supporting student progress and achievement

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
