History graduate Teaching Assistant needed for a school located in Wigan

Teaching Personnel are working on behalf of one of our partner schools in Wigan to source the support of a History graduate to work as a Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting position for a History graduate to utilise their degree to enhance the learning development of pupils:

  • History graduate Teaching Assistant
  • Working 1-to-1 and with small groups of pupils
  • Required to start after Easter
  • School located in central Wigan

Due to upcoming examination period, the Assistant Head teacher of this high performing school wishes to source the support of a History graduate to work with identified pupils. The primary aim of this role is to provide additional support to pupils with their History studies so that they are on course to achieve their target grades at GCSE.

Working under the leadership of the Head of Humanities, you will be expected to deliver pre-set work to pupils both in small groups and on a 1-to-1 basis. This will involve helping them with their essay writing skills and helping them to work through past exam papers. Your role as a History graduate will be to use your specialist knowledge to enhance their learning whilst ensuring that they know the assessment criteria for the exams. Being able to engage with pupils and overcoming apathy to learning is essential.

The school is centrally located which offers excellent accessibility to the surrounding areas of Abram and Orrell in one direction and Aspull, Standish and Horwich in another. It is also only a short walk away from the town centre of Wigan allowing those on public transport to get to the school easily.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
