Teaching Personnel is working alongside a well-established specialist school in Yeovil to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant for a full-time opportunity starting in September 2026. An earlier start may be available for the right candidate.
This welcoming and highly supportive setting caters for children and young people aged 4 to 18 with a range of complex additional needs, including autism spectrum conditions, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, communication challenges and physical disabilities.

The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to create an engaging and inclusive learning experience.
- Supporting pupils throughout lessons and structured activities
- Delivering targeted interventions under the guidance of teaching staff
- Encouraging communication, participation and engagement
- Helping learners achieve personalised educational targets
- Supporting behaviour through positive reinforcement strategies
- Assisting with sensory activities and therapeutic programmes
- Preparing resources and maintaining stimulating learning spaces
- Accompanying pupils during educational visits and enrichment activities
- Supporting mobility, personal care and feeding requirements where necessary
- Promoting pupil wellbeing, dignity and independence at all times
Who We're Looking For
We are keen to hear from applicants who are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.
- At least 6 months of experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals
- An understanding of SEND or a strong desire to develop within specialist education
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A proactive and compassionate attitude
Experience within SEN schools, care settings, residential services or youth support environments would be advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
