Higher Level Teaching Assistant

An Ofsted graded “GOOD” Secondary school in the BB7 area of Clitheroe, Lancashire are excited to recruit two committed, supportive, and hard-working HLTA’s to join the school community to provide as part of their core duties: to cover for absent teachers, provide intervention sessions and in class support.

The role of a HLTA is invaluable to assisting the pupils with their development and readiness for life beyond school. It is therefore essential that the successful candidates have high expectations of the pupils and with a commitment to helping them fulfil their potential.

You will be working with excellent staff in this exciting and challenging post. You need to have extremely high expectations to ensure children regardless of gender, ethnicity and religion achieve to the best of their ability. An interest in working with students with a wide range of special educational needs including emotional, social and mental health needs is essential, together with an interest in supporting second language learners. A caring, flexible and common-sense approach is important.

These roles are to start in January 2024 and are initially confirmed until Easter, with the potential to extend depending on the successful candidate’s performance.

The successful candidate must:

• Demonstrate positive values
• Communicate effectively and sensibly
• Recognise and respect the contribution that parents and carers can make to the development and well-being of children
• Demonstrate a commitment to collaborative and cooperative working with colleagues

The successful candidates must have achieved a nationally recognised qualification at Level 2 or above in English and Maths, know how to use ICT and know how to support learners in accessing the curriculum in accordance with different needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
