Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Behaviour & Inclusion)

We are seeking a resilient, nurturing and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant with a specialism in behaviour and inclusion to join a specialist secondary setting supporting young people with SEMH and trauma-related needs.

This role is ideal for someone who understands that behaviour is communication and who can remain calm, consistent, and patient in the face of challenge. You will play a key role in supporting students to regulate, re-engage with learning, and feel safe within the school environment.

The Role

• Provide targeted support for students with SEMH and trauma-related needs
• Lead and support behaviour and inclusion strategies across the setting
• Work with individuals and small groups to support emotional regulation and engagement
• Support teachers with planning and delivery of inclusive learning activities
• Model calm, consistent, and nurturing responses to behaviour
• Contribute to behaviour plans, risk assessments, and inclusion strategies
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students who may struggle to engage in education

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Significant experience working with SEN, particularly SEMH and trauma (essential)
• A strong understanding of behaviour, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice
• A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
• The ability to remain resilient and consistent, even on difficult days
• An adaptable mindset and the ability to think on your feet
• The confidence to manage challenging behaviour without taking it personally
• A sense of humour and perspective, knowing when to reset and start again

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
