Job description

Are you a recent graduate looking to gain real classroom experience before taking the next step into teaching or education? A well-established and supportive secondary school in Oldham is seeking confident, motivated graduates to join their team as Supply Teachers starting this September.

This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who’s considering a future in education but wants to test the waters first. As a Graduate Supply Teacher, you’ll be stepping into classrooms across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering pre-set work during teacher absences. You won’t need to plan lessons or mark work — your role is to manage the classroom, keep students focused, and ensure learning continues in a calm and structured environment.

This school has a clear and consistent behaviour policy, and you’ll be well supported by experienced staff, including a Cover Manager and senior leaders who are used to working with early-career professionals. Full training is provided, including classroom management techniques, safeguarding, and professional expectations in schools. It’s a perfect launchpad if you’re planning to apply for a PGCE or school-based teacher training programme in the near future.

You’ll gain experience across a range of subjects and year groups, developing valuable skills in leadership, communication, and problem-solving. The school has a strong record of developing graduates into future teachers, and many previous Supply Teachers have gone on to gain salaried training places within the same school or trust.

To be considered, you’ll need a degree (2:2 or above) in any subject, strong interpersonal skills, and the confidence to lead a classroom. While previous experience working with young people is a bonus, it isn’t essential — what matters most is your reliability, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.

This is a full-time role during term time, starting in September and running through to the end of the academic year, with opportunities to extend or progress further depending on your ambitions.

If you're a graduate looking for hands-on experience in education, and want to build your confidence and skill set in a rewarding environment, we’d love to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
