Behaviour Support Assistant – Graduate Role

Are you a graduate/ soon to be graduate looking to step into a pastoral or behaviour support role in a secondary school setting?

A school we work closely with in Stockport are currently seeking to hire a graduate to fill the role of Behaviour Support Assistant. The role will be full time, commencing in September and initially lasting until the end of the academic year 2021/22. The role comes with the option attached to become a permanent contract for the right candidate.

We’re currently looking for applicants from the Stockport areas of Stockport town, Cheadle Hulme, Heaton Chapel, Bredbury, Romiley, Hazel Grove, Wilmslow and the surrounding areas. We are currently seeking graduates from core subjects such as English, Maths, Science, Humanities as well as Modern Foreign Languages, Psychology, Physical Education and more.

Successful candidates will work alongside regular classroom teachers during lessons, helping to plan and deliver lessons and support students displaying challenging and complex behaviour. BSA’s will offer support with explaining tasks and instructions and promoting a positive working environment for all vulnerable students. Graduate BSA’s will also support other vulnerable students (SEN, SEMH students etc) when required, organising small group and 1-1 intervention and pastoral support sessions.

Candidate requirements for the role of graduate BSA:

  • Degree educated in one of the above relevant courses
  • Experience supporting young people in a pastoral role or otherwise e.g. mentoring, support work youth work, residential care, sports coaching, tutoring
  • Desire to take the step into a career in secondary education
  • Suitable references with no safeguarding concerns or disciplinary issues
  • Child workforce DBS certificate on the update service

Some highlights of this position include:

  • Full time graduate role commencing September 2021 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 3:00)
  • Supporting vulnerable students in classroom, small group, 1-1 scenarios
  • Providing parents/ carers/ guardians with social and academic progress updates
  • Working to promote a positive and healthy working environment for all students
  • Wages of up to GBP350 a week, paid weekly through our PAYE scheme
  • Excellent starting point for a career in secondary education and/ or support

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
