The Maidstone based school graded ‘GOOD’ by Ofsted are looking to appoint a teacher of Geography to cover maternity for September 2021.   The successful Teacher will be a strong classroom practitioner who can inspire students. You will have excellent subject knowledge and the ability to make learning exciting and engaging, leading to examination success in an effective, hardworking, and established Geography Team. There is a high level of uptake for GCSE Geography, so it is essential that the appointed teacher has an interest in taking part in Geography Field Trips, as part of the role. 

As a successful Geography teacher, you will:

• Have a thorough and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum programmes of study, level descriptors and specifications for examination courses.
• Keep up to date with research and developments in pedagogy and the subject area.
• Set high expectations for all students, to deepen their knowledge and understanding and to maximise their achievement.
• Use positive management of behaviour in an environment of mutual respect which allows students to feel safe and secure, promoting their self-esteem.
• Manage student learning through effective teaching in accordance with the Department’s Schemes of Work and policies.
• Ensure continuity, progression, and cohesiveness in all teaching.
