Job description

TP Tutors have an exciting opportunity to work with Local Authorities and Schools in the Stockton-on-Tees, who are seeking a functional skills tutor to help support children with both their Maths and English skills.

The majority of the students we support have varying challenges, our goal is to provide our students with the skills required to succeed later in life. Therefore, we are looking for a passionate individual who will strive to support children on either a 1:1 basis or in a small group to maximise the children’s potential in all areas.

This role may require to work outside of the mainstream setting.

Tutor Requirements:

  • Professional Teaching Qualifications are preferred (Qualifies Teacher Status, QTS).
  • Substantial teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience of working with children/young people with SEND, SEMH and other additional needs.
  • An Enhanced Child Workforce only DBS on the update service, or willingness to purchase one via TP Tutors (support for obtaining one can be provided)
  • Professional references from your two most recent employers, totalling 24 months from a 10-year career history.

This role includes:

  • Planning, creating, and teaching engaging sessions.
  • Providing functional skills and emotional support to children
  • Tracking progress of children, planning their next steps and providing constructive feedback
  • Implementing behaviour strategies to ensure the children are focused.
  • Being aware of the child’s needs and interest, using this to adopt a child-centred approach to learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
