Job description

TP Tutors are looking for skilled and enthusiastic tutors to join our growing team. We work closely with Local Authorities and Schools across South Tyneside to support children who are currently unable to access mainstream education.

We are particularly seeking tutors who can deliver functional skills in Maths and English, with the confidence to adapt to learners’ individual needs. Some of this work may take place outside traditional school settings.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing and delivering engaging, subject-focused sessions.

  • Assessing progress, providing constructive feedback, and tailoring next steps to maximise learning.

  • Taking a child-centred approach, building lessons around pupils’ needs and interests.

  • Using a range of behavioural strategies to support positive engagement.

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified teachers or tutors (QTS desirable but not essential).

  • Experience of supporting children with SEND and/or SEMH needs.

  • Two professional references covering at least 24 months within the last 10 years.

  • An enhanced child workforce DBS (or willingness to obtain one through TP Tutors).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
