Job description

Functional Skills Tutor – South Shields

TP Tutors are working with Local Authorities and schools in South Shields to provide Functional Skills tuition in English and Maths to children not currently accessing mainstream education. We are seeking adaptable tutors to help learners achieve their qualifications.

This role may include working outside a mainstream setting.

The Role:

  • Planning and delivering Functional Skills English and/or Maths sessions.

  • Supporting learners in preparing for assessments.

  • Giving feedback and planning next steps for continued progress.

  • Using creative approaches to engage and motivate pupils.

  • Supporting learners with SEMH/SEND needs through tailored strategies.

Tutor Requirements:

  • Professional teaching qualifications are preferred.

  • Experience working with children with SEND/SEMH needs.

  • 2 professional references covering at least 24 months from the last 10 years.

  • An enhanced child workforce DBS or willingness to purchase one via TP Tutors.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
