Full-Time Teaching Assistant – Bournemouth

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Full-Time Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Bournemouth. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, recent graduate, or someone with relevant transferable experience who is looking to build a rewarding career within education.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the wider school team to provide high-quality support to pupils, helping them to engage with their learning, develop confidence and achieve their individual potential.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils both academically and pastorally throughout the school day. You will work alongside experienced teaching staff to create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with their learning on a 1:1 and small-group basis

  • Working closely with class teachers to support the delivery of engaging lessons

  • Helping pupils to access the curriculum and overcome barriers to learning

  • Providing additional support to pupils with SEND and additional learning needs

  • Supporting literacy, numeracy and other targeted learning activities

  • Reinforcing instructions and helping pupils remain focused and engaged

  • Encouraging pupils to develop greater confidence, independence and resilience

  • Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining consistent classroom routines

  • Developing positive and professional relationships with pupils

  • Providing encouragement and reassurance to pupils who may require additional support

  • Assisting teachers with the preparation of classroom resources and activities

  • Supporting pupils during transitions, break times and other aspects of the school day where required

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals

  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment

  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing appropriate feedback to teaching staff

About You

Teaching Personnel are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual who genuinely wants to make a difference in the classroom.

Previous experience working within a school environment would be advantageous. However, experience in childcare, youth work, tutoring, mentoring, sports coaching, care or other roles involving children and young people will also be considered.

This opportunity could also be particularly well suited to graduates who are considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, SEND, pastoral support or another education-based profession.

Working with SEND

The role may involve supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. Experience working with SEND, Autism, ADHD, communication needs or behavioural needs would be beneficial, although training and support can be provided where appropriate.

You will be expected to take a patient and individualised approach, recognising that every pupil has different strengths, needs and ways of learning.
