Experienced SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant

Location: Speke, Liverpool
Start Date: October 2025
Hours: Full-Time

Contract: Temporary

Pay Rate: £13.75-£14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a forward-thinking and inclusive primary school in Speke, who are seeking an experienced and passionate SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their team from October 2025. This full-time, temporary position will involve working closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH needs.

The school is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for all pupils. With a strong SEN provision in place, the successful candidate will be well-supported by an experienced SENCO and wider pastoral team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact on the learning and development of pupils who need additional support.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Minimum of 12 months' experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a primary setting
  • Strong understanding of a range of special educational needs and effective support strategies
  • Experience with one-to-one and small group interventions
  • A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • A relevant Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • An up-to-date DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
