Trainee Teaching Assistant
Location: Primary School in Toxteth (L8)
Start Date: October 2025
A larger-than-average primary school in Toxteth is seeking to appoint a Trainee Teaching Assistant to work in one of their Key Stage 2 (KS2) classrooms.
Over the past two years, the school has successfully recruited and supported three teaching assistants who are either currently undertaking or have recently completed a teaching assistant qualification. Owing to this success, the Head Teacher has engaged Teaching Personnel to assist with their ongoing recruitment needs.
Role Overview
As a Trainee Teaching Assistant in KS2, you will play a key role in supporting the class teacher in preparing lessons and maintaining a safe, positive, and stimulating learning environment. You will work alongside the teacher to:
- Support pupils during classroom activities
- Help manage behaviour effectively
- Encourage independence and active participation
- Assist pupils in overcoming learning challenges
Strong communication skills, enthusiasm, and a commitment to pupil progress are essential. You will provide support across all areas of the curriculum, including English, mathematics, and science.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
- Encourage pupils to work independently where appropriate.
- Prepare the classroom for lessons and clear away afterwards.
- Assist the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting any issues.
- Help pupils understand lesson instructions.
- Support pupils with the curriculum (e.g. English, maths, science) as directed by the teacher.
- Supervise pupils during lunchtimes.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting concerns where necessary.
Role Details
- Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Includes: 30-minute welfare duty
- Eligibility: Open to those currently studying a TA, CACHE, or Childcare qualification
- Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
