Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant

About the school

The school is a dynamic and inspiring provision for children and young people aged 7–19, supporting those with a primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and related social and communication needs.

Our school provides:

  • A wide range of GCSE, Functional Skills, and BTEC accreditations, as well as entry-level pathways.

  • A caring, structured environment where behaviour is excellent and every young person is encouraged to reach their full potential.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team.

The role is centred on supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing, ensuring they have every opportunity to succeed in a safe, nurturing environment. This may also involve supporting with care needs and positive behaviour management using a tailored, child-centred approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build warm, supportive relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, valued, and engaged in learning.

  • Encourage independence, personal development, and positive behaviour.

  • Support the teaching of a high-quality, differentiated curriculum designed to help pupils achieve their full potential.

  • Assist the Class Teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom.

  • Adapt flexibly to the needs of the school to support smooth, effective provision.

  • Promote pupils’ cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development as well as their overall wellbeing.

  • Work collaboratively with a multi-professional team.

  • Maintain accurate records where required, such as incidents, health, or behaviour reports.

About You

We are particularly interested in candidates who:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism.

  • Are enthusiastic, resilient, and adaptable.

  • Have a positive approach to supporting learning and behaviour.

  • Share our belief in creating a safe, caring, and inspiring environment for every child.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
