Functional Skills Tutor – Nottinghamshire

£25–£30 per hour | Flexible hours | 1:1 and small-group tuition

TP Tutors is recruiting skilled and motivated Functional Skills Tutors to provide personalised support across Nottinghamshire. We are looking for tutors who can help learners strengthen essential skills in English and maths, building the confidence they need for further education, employment, and everyday life.

The Role

You will deliver engaging tuition sessions in English and maths, working on a one-to-one basis or with small groups. Lessons will be tailored to each learner’s needs, whether that means closing knowledge gaps, preparing for Functional Skills assessments, or supporting with practical literacy and numeracy skills. Tuition may take place in homes, schools, or community venues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver Functional Skills tuition (Entry Level to Level 2)

  • Adapt teaching to suit different learning styles and abilities

  • Break down concepts into clear, practical learning steps

  • Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback

  • Maintain safeguarding and child protection standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Knowledge of the Functional Skills curriculum (English and maths)

  • Teaching or tutoring experience with young people and/or adults

  • Experience working with SEND/SEMH learners is desirable

  • Excellent communication and planning skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Up-to-date safeguarding training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
