Exciting Opportunity: English Intervention Assistant

We are currently seeking a dedicated English Intervention Assistant to join our team at a highly respected secondary school in Wilmslow. With an Ofsted rating of 'Good', the school is committed to providing high-quality education and support to all students.

Role Overview:

As an English Intervention Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing targeted support to students who require additional assistance in English language and literacy. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Delivering Intervention Sessions: Working closely with individual students or small groups to deliver tailored intervention sessions focused on improving literacy skills, including reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and spelling.

  2. Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conducting assessments to identify areas of need and monitor students' progress over time, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents on students' strengths and areas for development.

  3. Supporting Classroom Learning: Collaborating with classroom teachers to reinforce learning objectives and assist students in understanding and applying English language concepts covered in the curriculum, ensuring continuity and reinforcement of learning.

  4. Providing Individualized Support: Offering one-to-one support and guidance to students who may require additional assistance with specific English language skills, adapting teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.

  5. Building Confidence: Encouraging students to develop confidence in their English language abilities, fostering a positive attitude towards learning and providing encouragement and praise to celebrate their achievements.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in English language and literature, with a passion for promoting literacy skills and a desire to support students in achieving their potential.
  • Previous experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably in a role focused on literacy intervention or academic support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students facing academic challenges, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and student engagement.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work collaboratively within a team environment and respond to the diverse needs of students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
